You’ll make friends and bond with new people like you never have before. You’ll dream up elaborate utopian schemes out of thin air.

Often the high at this level will lead you to trip out on your breathing. At this stage you may develop a kind of magnetism in your personality. You’ll experience many different kinds of attractions. You’ll let go of some relationships and re-attach with others. It’s all one in your beautiful exploration of the world.

As this level peaks, you’ll get in touch with the superficiality of it all. You’ll come up with schemes for getting money out of nowhere. As your Po, the seat of your Earthly Power, begins to get damaged from the marijuana, you’ll find that you can no longer form relationships like you did before. You’ll start worrying about it, and many other things, too. You may get very quiet. You won’t like speaking. If you do, your voice will get softer and softer as you speak. If this level begins to stagnate, you might develop an oppressed feeling in your chest for no apparent reason. There will be no way to find a physical cause for this feeling using modern medical science.

As the marijuana continues to consume the energy of your Lung System, you’ll go into a new turn of the spiral at this level. You’ll experience a sense of excitement at new people and new ideas. You’ll forgive everybody and everything for all of the hurt feelings of the prior stage and surrender to the glorious process of life. The keynotes of your new life will be those of celebration and the exploration of freedom. You may want to avoid closed places as you go running wild, connecting with fresh people and always going on to something new. You’ll fall in love with the charming nature of immaturity.

Marijuana may then put you through some kind of an initiation, either intentionally on your part, or by ‘chance’. If you make it through, you’ll feel as if you’ve really found your place in society. Responsibility will be your revelation.

As the heaviness of responsibility descends on you, you’ll discover that you need to win. As this need begins to claim you, you’ll find more and more that you can’t let go of anything physical, emotional or mental. {When you get high, you might start tripping out on your anus.}You’ll freak out at the unknown and begin to cling to what you think you know. You won’t want to do anything new. You’ll resist any change. You’ll become dependent on someone or something. You’ll may discover a profound sadness in you that doesn’t seem to have an origin.

At first you may begin to refine your individuality as you go into the deepest stages of this level. But as marijuana continues to poison your Lung System you’ll begin to question your individuality, your identity, independence and ideals. You’ll break intimate bonds lightly and without grieving. You can suffer from constipation as issues of bonding and holding on, struggling against authority and self-esteem drive you to test yourself and others again and again. Tiny details of cosmetic appearances will become very important to you. You can experience overwhelming anxiety when you’re forced with the prospect of new relationships, but at the same time you’ll be lost in a maze of perpetual empty infatuations. You’ll find, and so will anybody around you, that you can’t sustain anything on any level.

The vision marijuana will give you at this stage is that you are at the center of your universe. The clarity of your dreams, visions and goals will attain superb and delicious definition. Whatever you intend will seem to happen as if by magic. You’ll be ‘in the Zone.’ Everything you do will be a testimony to your groundedness and capacity to achieve. Bonding and maturation become your way of life. Your personal relationships develop and flourish. You become a professional at whatever you do. You’re tough and you make power moves every chance you get. Your appetite for life just can’t be satisfied.

Then something changes. As this phase peaks and begins to descend, you’ll begin to enjoy exploiting people just for fun. You’ll become a self-centered terminator, espousing a philosophy of survival and rugged individualism. As marijuana inches you down its path, you’ll begin to feel that the close relationships you’ve developed in this phase are getting a little too close. You’ll start shutting people out with a very strong sense of boundaries.

Oddly enough, at the same time you’re pushing people away from your boundaries, you’ll experience a needy, hungry anxiety when they separate from you.

As marijuana takes you into the next phase, it begins to damage your Yi, which means thinking and intention. You’ll have a shorter attention span, a reduced ability to perform tasks requiring concentration and coordination, and impairments in learning, thinking, retaining knowledge, problem solving and forming concepts. As the marijuana does further damage to your Yi, you’ll discover an increasing inability to do anything in the real world.

You may begin to lose weight as marijuana’s Fire further injures your digestive Yin. If the Fire congests in your Stomach and creates Hot Phlegm, it may then affect your Heart System, and you’ll experience a strong spontaneous desire to climb things. If the Hot Phlegm gets caught at the level of your Pericardium System, you’ll find it difficult to lie down. You may begin to have outright hallucinations as you feel more and more like nothing is holding your life together anymore.

Everything will seem toxic and unhealthy to you as marijuana’s Hot Poison begins its general toxification of your body. The Earth itself will seem polluted. Your relationships may polarize and become corrosive. You will find more and more faults in others. You’ll want to cleanse yourself, change your diet and become a Vegetarian or Vegan with a capital V. You’ll fast and get into quirky and extreme healing regimes. You’ll recycle and become a champion for non-polluting energy sources.

From here, the Marijuana Poison will begin to influence and exaggerate the levels that correspond to your greatest weaknesses. As the Hot Poison circulates around in your Blood, one of the systems it hits hardest is your Pericardium System. One of the main functions of the Pericardium System is to protect your Heart, which is the seat of the mind in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

You’ll know marijuana’s Hot Poison is affecting your Pericardium System if you start getting silly when you’re high. Another way you can tell marijuana is poisoning your Pericardium System is if you experience an increased sense of sexuality when you’re high. Although this may lead to some wonderful experiences at first, Hot Poison at this level can fuel sexual obsessions.

Your Pericardium System is your self-protector. When marijuana starts affecting your Pericardium System you’ll feel like all contact is safe contact. You’ll feel totally invincible, finally experiencing the unified love between your heart and genitals that you always sensed was possible. You’ll ride the razor’s edge of control between passion and reason as you burn through all of your available biological, psychological and energetic resources.

As marijuana strips your Blood of its ability to nourish the Jueyin level of your Pericardium System, it will begin to throw off your timing and social appropriateness. What used to be cute and endearing in your personality has now gone too far. Now you’re just weird to the people around you. This level can lead to a variety of social difficulties. It can cause problems in your relationships, your work, at home and with friends.

Your decrease in social skills and appropriateness will at first lead you to reduce the value you place on your friends and day-to-day responsibilities. Sooner or later, though, the reality of what is going on will begin to dawn on you. When this happens the marijuana will help you repress the feelings you have about your interactions with others. If you keep going deeper into this level, marijuana’s repressive nature will take you so far out of the loop of reality that you’ll end up with a complete confusion of the roles of taking and giving in your life. As the drug takes your farther, you’ll do anything to please those around you. You’ll turn into a sucker that gets exploited at every turn, forever falling in love and getting hurt in a tragic cycle of martyrdom.

At the deepest level of marijuana poisoning, the only thing you will identify with in life is failure.

The Fire of your Heart System is the Fire of creativity. Depending on your constitution, you may wind up sleeping all the time, or suffering from insomnia. Your spontaneous, free-flowing expression will take a gradual and definite turn into its opposite. Humorless, sexually repressed, dull and unable to concentrate, you’ll feel inadequate and clumsy as you bumble your way through trying to get something, anything done.

Marijuana’s path of Fire through your Heart and Blood Systems goes through a number of spiraling rebirths in its process. The nature of creative energy is to squeeze, compact and frustrate its way toward its next creative breakthrough. The depression marijuana has cast over you could lead you into a primal awakening of creativity and expression if you can stay with yourself and your feelings from moment to moment.

By this time the Hot Poison of the marijuana will be forging a very deep effect on your personality. The more probable scenario for your primal awakening is that you will explode with an atomic, drug-addled force that will burn down everything in your life and reduce it to ashes. This is the stage where your body has become so injured and toxic from the marijuana that your Shen gets damaged. You’ll experience memory loss as your mind ‘goes to pot.’ You’ll lose the edge and creativity you once had. You’ll know there’s something wrong with you, but you won’t know what it is. Your verbal skills and ability to keep track of time will be shot. This is when you’re entering a deep level of psychological dependence on the drug.

There’s a chance, if you follow yourself with meticulous attention, that at the next turn of marijuana’s Fiery spiral you’ll have some kind of a spiritual or intellectual breakthrough. It could happen in any of the areas of higher intelligence such as math, philosophy, science or spirituality. Your breakthrough may involve two or more of these areas. That’s because the Poison from the marijuana is forcing your brain to make new connections- the old ones just don’t work anymore. You may reach a superb state of intellectual and spiritual discrimination and become a bastion of reason. You’ll be able to express your ideas with absolute clarity as you continuously discover new and better ways to make your ideas useful in the world.

If you continue your relationship with marijuana, the next phase will transform you into a compulsive communicator. Your sublime clear thoughts will begin to have a pressure behind them that will push people away from you. Your energy will be flying out most of the time. You won’t let anyone stop your relentless stream of communication as you devolve from being a brilliant idealist to a salesperson, to an actor, to a con artist.

The naked reality is that you’ve lost your ability to help your ideas take root in the world. You’ll never reach the potential that marijuana showed you. You’ve lost your ability to organize. You still feel warmth for humanity, but you’re losing your power to express it. As you go deeper into the illusion of this phase, you’ll come to believe that everything that has happened to you is because ‘The System’ has crushed you. The main feeling you’ll have at this stage is overwhelm.

Your feeling of being overwhelmed will compound the toxicity of marijuana’s Hot Poison and further burn up your Blood and Yin. When the Poison begins to go into the deep levels of your Heart Blood and Yin, you may feel an ephemeral sense of appreciation, joy and celebration for others. You may even discover love. Yet your experience of love will be unstable. The instability of life will sicken you until you won’t be able to tolerate even feelings of pleasure or joy.

Sometimes you’ll flip into epiphanies of self-realization and expansiveness and not want to be restricted or controlled in any way.

If you continue on marijuana’s ride your energy will then begin to collapse inward. The fleeting joys you have savored in the last level will tumble like puppets before you. You will be left in a vacuum with no creativity and no feelings. Dull, boring, and uninspired, you’ll get dragged into the river of the status quo. After all the struggle of your creative journey, you’ll become a follower.

At this stage, marijuana will have claimed your Heart Blood. You will fear rejection and seek approval. Taking no risks, irritable and restless, you will spend your time looking into the past. But your search will be selective as you edit parts of your history and try to ignore others.

Your lack of gusto and originality will now leave you without any warmth whatsoever. Marijuana has taken it all. Your instinct may lead you to become a bureaucrat with others of your kind in a large company or organization. Guilt will poison any vestigial sexual feelings you may be left with. You’ll feel lost in life, unable to separate what’s important from what’s not important. Getting high won’t bring you clarity anymore. You’ll feel like a curse or divine punishment hangs over you at all times waiting for any opportunity to destroy you. Confusing love and hate, and no longer possessing any form of natural discernment, you’ll feel an inescapable draw to the black and white ideals of fundamentalism.

When marijuana first begins to influence your Liver System it can be a time of renaissance and rebirth in your life. You can experience absolute motivation to put your plans, which are copious, far-reaching and detailed, into action.

Whatever it is that you're into, you'll be ready to move forward and act. At the same time, you will demonstrate a freshness and sensitivity to others in your actions that will allow you to engage in a pleasant and life-inspiring give and take with all you come in contact with. Compassion in action will be the words that describe your Spring-like presence as you pull together and consummate the essential spirit of all the experience you've gained in life.

As marijuana begins to consume your Liver Qi and Yin, however, you will begin to take a path of retreat in your dealings with others. You will become withdrawn and do anything to avoid trouble or conflict. You'll become unwilling to hurt anything or anyone for any reason, and your definition of what is harmful will expand to include more and more things.

In time your pattern of consistent retreat will leave no more room for you in the universe. You may feel like you have no place in the world.

Then something in you will begin to rebel. That something at its core relates to your natural position in life. It will not let you fade away into nothingness. It will rebel, yet it may have to do so without you knowing about it, because you will refuse to contradict your own pacifist ideals.

As marijuana continues to invade and degrade your Liver System, the new you will begin to show itself in the form of passive resistance to those around you. You may make 'innocent mistakes' that can harm the people around you and put you on top in every situation you encounter. Weird things and ‘accidents’ may happen that will keep you from getting blamed, for a while, and mask your own understanding of what's going on. What's amazing about this stage is that you won’t perform any direct acts of aggression. You'll be unaware that you're doing it. In fact, you'll believe the opposite is true.

At this point marijuana has twisted your Qi and your perceptions of yourself so that you can't understand what you're doing. You will remain without stain in your own eyes as you indulge more and more in procrastinating and losing or ‘inadvertently’ destroying other people's possessions. You'll do things that invoke other people to feel what you feel but can’t express.

As the marijuana further masks your ability to observe yourself and begins to burn your Liver Yin, you may feel victimized and spiteful. The bottom of it all is that you still can't assert your being in the world because marijuana has damaged your True Yang. As your Liver Yin and Blood continue to burn as well, you'll begin to feel a deep anxiety whenever you believe you're being tested or challenged. These are the moments when you need to assert your being. You’ll find that you can’t.

As the marijuana continues to consume you, you'll become trapped in a shroud of ambivalence. You won't be able to decide anything. Even the simplest choices will seem to bring a crushing weight down on you. The weight will bring you down and you'll start to get negative. Over time your negativity and pessimism will sabotage anything that could move your life forward. It can ruin all of your relationships. Your indecision and negativity will so distort your judgment that you'll start making truly poor decisions about even the most basic things in your life.

As the marijuana further damages your Liver Yin, your perception of life will be that you're backed into a wall. Retreat has become impossible. You’ll start looking out for #1, and you’ll know it. You'll feel as if you're fighting a battle for your life all the time. You'll be stuck in the fight part of fight or flight, consumed by a need to dominate. You'll be dead serious at all times, with no room to relax or to be light.

As marijuana claims the final recesses of your Liver Blood, you can drive everyone out of your life in a frenzied pursuit to win your aimless war.

As marijuana begins to affect your Kidney Qi, Yang and Yin, you will go through several spirals of rising and falling ideals that grow in intensity and consequences.

The initial experiences you will have as marijuana begins to affect your Kidney System will be cosmic. You'll have times when you'll feel like you're receiving energy from the world, the universe and the divine. You'll live in an eternal here and now, emanating a deep sense of awe and reverence for universal truth. You'll tap into an acceptance of the incomprehensible nature of being and rest in a deep and natural faith. You'll surrender the illusion of false security and abandon yourself and your fate to life's mystery. You will become the organic, connected spirit you were born to be, expanding beyond all sense of limitations and rooting yourself at the center of your universe.

From this magnificent and ultimate crescendo your energy will flip like a switch. You'll transform from being the creative center of your universe to believing you're the center of the universe. Your expansiveness will change to need. You'll need to feel important. You'll need to feel safe. At the same time, you'll begin to believe that other people or energies or life itself is out to get or oppress you. Instead of being one with the unknown, you'll come to fear it. You will set up your life to avoid fear at all costs. Depressions might descend on you without any discernable cause or timing. As marijuana begins to consume your Kidney System you'll lose your faith and ability to perceive the world with appropriate wonder and respect. You will lose your power to evolve and grow. Arrogant and impotent, you'll always seem to lurk in the aura of an explosive and dangerous sense of violence.

To make matters worse, you won’t be in touch with what this dark side is, and you may play it out in all sorts of unconscious ways. Your dark energy will attract sinister characters and situations to complete your shadowy picture of the world. As this happens and the marijuana drags you further along its course you'll become closed down, inaccessible and unable to deal with people. You won't be able to look others in the eye. You'll seem cool on the outside, but can fly into hateful rages if you don’t get what you want when you want it. You may act out your violence through sex, coupling your sexual intensity with a sense of finality and death as if each moment could be your last.

As marijuana brings you into the next stage, you'll become a rigid conformist. You won't consider yourself to be a rigid conformist, though, because in this phase you'll get involved with esoteric things. You'll regard your system, whatever it is, above everything and everyone. You'll call yourself 'Spiritual' and you'll make sure that everybody knows it. The truth of it is that you will become inflexible, and spend more and more time and energy in an effort to get everybody and everything around you to conform to your system. If the marijuana damages your Yang energy more than your Yin, you'll become a devoted follower. If it damages your Yin more than your Yang, or if you experience a flush of Yang in the Shining Ideal phase, you may become a leader.

The essence of this phase of marijuana poisoning is that you'll go spiritual instead of taking on the responsibilities of your life. On the outside you’ll appear to be an angel of empathy, kindness and caring, accepting everything that comes your way in the spirit of universal love. Yet your spirituality will be impersonal and will break down whenever you face the real world. The damage marijuana has done to you at this point will cause your eyes to radiate one of two distinct qualities during this phase: spaced out if you're falling to the Yin side, or a zealous, crazy fire if you’re on the Yang side.

As the marijuana damages your Kidney Yang, you’ll lose energy and interest in sex and pretty much everything else in life. You’ll only want to curl up and stay warm, get nourished, read and daydream empty fantasies. You’ll concoct elaborate, beautiful and impossible schemes and live in the faith of their reality. You’ll believe that everything in your life is about to come together because of some magical benevolent force that loves you.

As marijuana continues to damage you over time, and your fantasies just don’t come true, your world will begin to turn disappointing and dark. You’ll become more and more paranoid as it seems like the people you loved and trusted betray you. You’ll come up with data and actual proof of a sinister web of malevolent intentions, wrongdoers and an establishment where you are innocent, helpless and victimized.
It’s not just in your mind. Your behaviors are draining away the physical basis of your Spirit’s competence in the world. At this point, there’s not much left in you that could draw you toward positive energy, people and experiences.

As the marijuana continues to degrade your Kidney System, you'll go into a phase where you’ll believe you know everything about everything. This phase often couples with your posture falling apart, which shows that you’re losing the spine to accomplish anything in the real world. Yet if you can find proper guidance at this stage, you may be able to point yourself toward higher forms of learning and really develop yourself to be the genius you think you are. By this time you've slipped out of society's groove enough to have a unique and valuable perspective on the world. It will take both subtlety and discipline to forge you into this super-being. Your window of time to do it won’t stay open for long. If you continue to damage yourself with marijuana it may open and close again before you realize what’s happening.
If you don't make it through the window, you can descend into an endless paranoia that feeds your self-absorbed universe. If you have enough Jing Sexual Essence to support yourself, this phase can go on for a very long time. But when your Jing runs down and gets depleted, you’ll experience a complete burn out of everything in your life.

Whichever way it goes, some very interesting things can happen in the next turn of marijuana’s spiral. The marijuana is challenging your core energetic system to maximum levels in this stage. This challenge will evoke special powers out of you, but only for a short time. This is your Jing's response to its survival getting threatened. You may have incidences of seeing into the future, going into shamanic trances where you leave your body, or you may discover a whole deeper purpose in your life. If your mind won’t let go enough to let you be so exotic, you may develop an intense desire to have a child or to leave a legacy behind you when you die.
All of these symptoms are just a preamble to losing your Heat. You’re about to lose your life force and your will, maybe even your will to live. As the marijuana comes ever closer to your energetic core, you may slip out of time. You might get confused as to where you are in your life. You'll enter new levels of paranoia as step by step you lose your power to act in any way.

At this stage, your Zhi, your will, is going into its final throes of poisoning. Laziness, procrastination and impotence on every level will be the hallmarks of your very low levels of achievement in life. No vision of the future whatsoever will replace the wonderful dreams that marijuana gave you way back when. Your existence will lose all forward movement. You'll become skeptical about everything, because you won't believe that anybody else has the power to do anything in life, either. You'll get defensive and blame everyone but yourself for your failures. You'll take on the collective dream of searching for an easy way out, 'the good life.' You won't be able to follow through with anything because of your endless fear. You will experience total stagnation. You'll want sex but won't be able to do it. You'll be dull. Other people will describe you as being not the brightest bulb or the sharpest tack. You'll have very little strength, no matter how much you train or exercise, but you'll only do such things if others force you to do them, anyway. Your will is almost gone.

Then marijuana will start to give you visions again. This time they will be of superiority. If marijuana’s Hot Poison goes more to your left-brain, you’ll begin to believe that logical thought is everything. You’ll create a faux-scientific world in which you’ll believe you can explain the cause and effect relationship of every aspect of your life and experience. If marijuana’s Poison goes more into your right-brain, you’ll believe that intuition is everything, and create a world that conforms to whatever that means to you. Whichever way it goes will influence the nature of how you use the final stages of your energy in this life.

The damage you’ve done to your learning and cognitive skills at this point will be substantial. Yet at a certain stage of the process, even though you might not be able to remember what happened to you just 5 minutes ago, your energy and focus will come together to unite the ghost of your personal will with cosmic and/or historical forces. Past, present and future will align with absolute perfection to reveal the powerful destiny you were always meant to have.

Is it real, or are you insane? That will be the question on everybody’s mind as you begin to transcend all of your past limitations. When your Jing Sexual Essence gets challenged to the final levels you may begin to cross over to another plane of existence, one where union with the divine will tap you into infinite reserves that you can call on whenever you need them. As long as you keep your focus on a quest for the common good, love between people and political freedom, these divine forces will continue to support you.

The instant you lose that focus you’ll understand there’s nothing left of you. When you get high you might trip out on your teeth, thinking they’re falling apart, falling out or turning to mush. You’ll feel like your bones are melting or crumbling to powder. You’ll become obsessed with death and how death is breathing down your neck, stalking you at every turn.

As marijuana poisons the final levels of your will and it begins to die, you’ll become a brutal competitor in everything you do. Ideals of individualism and survival of the fittest will be the glittering veneer you paint over your brutality as you create your own ultimate us-against-them battle and play it out in the world around you.
